Birla Balika Vidyapeeth, Pilani is a leading residential school for Girls situated in Pilani town, Rajasthan. The School is affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi and is a member of Indian Public Schools’ Conference (IPSC), National Progressive Schools’ Conference (NPSC).

The School believes in imparting holistic development of a Girl child building confidence, clear communication skills and leadership qualities.

During the lockdown, the co-curricular activities were carried out remotely and the involvement of students needed a specific space to be displayed. Hence, to commemorate the  “National Sports Day”, the Sports and Physical Education Department  initiated a blog on 29th August 2020.

This blog aims to ensure maximum participation by students in Physical Activities and students would be self-motivated to participate as their contribution would be displayed on the blog. The blog entails that Health and fitness are two things that we must take care of to lead a good life as staying fit has a lot of advantages.

The blog elucidates to concentrate on ways to be fit, we must understand the reasons for which fitness is required. Our lifestyle has changed by and large, and we are more accustomed to eating out. Meals cooked at home are healthier, but our work takes us to different places, and we cannot expect home-cooked meals.To make up for our lack of eating healthy, we must take proper care of ourselves by exercising regularly. Exercise does not, however, mean that we have to spend our whole day in the gym or we have to give up eating our favorite food.Most people go for the wrong diet in their struggle to lose weight and stay fit. Following fad diets like eating cabbage soup or onions is not helpful and causes more harm than good. Individuals often skip meals because they think eating less would help them lose weight.

However, experts have repeatedly impressed upon us the importance of eating correctly. Skipping meals leads to slow metabolism, and that leads to further weight gain. When our body does not get enough food, it starts storing whatever food is available as fat. Thus, there is no breakdown of food into energy, and we feel tired and weak.

It is vital to eat our food at proper times. Dieticians suggest us to eat small quantities of food at multiple times. This helps in proper digestion and assimilation of food. We should intake sufficient green, leafy vegetables and a lot of water. Water regulates our body processes and facilitates overall functioning.

The involvement of students on the blog focussing on their well-being and physical fitness is viewed by a larger audience which would inspire them for serious & quality participation.

The blog would act as a tool for motivation, peer learning and maintaining a document of students participation thus proclaiming loud that ‘Fitness and exercise not only changes your body, it changes your mind, your attitude and elevates your overall development’..
